Sumburgh Airport on the way up

Sumburgh recorded the strongest growth of any of the 11 Highlands & Islands Airports Ltd (HIAL) airports during the year up to March, according to the latest figures.

There was a 14.6 per cent increase in passengers at Sumburgh, followed by Inverness with 12.8 per cent and Stornoway with 9.1 per cent.

Last month Sumburgh saw a 6.2 per cent increase, helped by increased oil sector traffic, while the area saw an overall increase of 4.1 per cent.
