A man charged with attempted murder appeared in private from custody at Lerwick Sheriff Court today.
Francis O’Neill Whyte, 42, of Scalloway, made no plea or declaration, was committed for further examination and was remanded in custody.
Police said an attack had taken place on a 52-year-old man in the Nederdale area of Lerwick at around 11.45pm on Friday. The victim had required hospital treatment for “non life-threatening injuries”.
The town centre was a hive of activity this afternoon with Living Lerwick’s street parade the centre of attraction.
