Two appear in court charged with offences at Lerwick’s Clickimin Centre

Two men charged with breach of the peace at the Clickimin Leisure Centre appeared from custody at Lerwick Sheriff Court today.

James Douglas, 29, of Nederdale, Lerwick, and Christopher Irvine, 25, of Cheyne Crescent, Lerwick, are jointly charged with behaving in a threatening and abusive manner, shouting and swearing and uttering threats on Saturday.

Mr Douglas is also charged with assaulting a man at the centre by punching him on the head and grabbing his clothing at the complex.

On the same date at Tesco’s car park Mr Douglas allegedly resisted a policeman and struggled violently with him, while Mr Irvine allegedly assaulted a policewoman and struggled violently with her. Mr Irvine is currently on bail which was granted by the court on 8th March.

Honorary sheriff Arnold Duncan continued the cases without plea until 22nd August and released both men on bail.
