Man in court on breach of the peace charges

A 27-year-old man stands accused of throwing a glass at a wall, making threats and discharging a fire extinguisher at another man.

Matthew Smith, of Hardbrakes, Dunrossness, appeared from custody at Lerwick today facing three breach of the peace charges.

He is alleged to have thrown the glass at an address in Lerwick’s Grodians last Thursday and made the threats at Da Vadill in the town on Friday. The fire extinguisher incident is alleged to have happened at the Ness.

His case before Sheriff Philip Mann was continued without plea for two weeks.

Smith was released on bail to an address in Robertson Crescent in Lerwick.

He was told not to enter either the Grodians or the Dunrossness addresses.

Smith was further ordered not to be intoxicated in public, and to provide a sample if required by police.
