Lerwick assault: two locals due in court

Police have arrested a 21-year-old local man in connection with the assault of a 29-year-old man in Burns Lane, Lerwick, early on Saturday.

A 17-year-old man was also arrested, accused of involvement in a disturbance during the same incident.

Both men are local Shetland residents and are in police custody.

They are expected to appear at Lerwick Sheriff Court tomorrow.

Shetland police chief Angus MacInnes thanked the public for information leading to the arrests.

Police officers from Inverness and Aberdeen also helped in the enquiries.
