Actor Morrissey’s Screenplay visit cancelled

The special guest at the Screenplay 2013 film festival David Morrissey will not be coming to Shetland because of “last minute” filming commitments.

Shetland Arts announced that Morrissey will be unable to attend in person but will take part in a question and answer session using digital technology.

The organisation’s spokeswoman Lisa Ward said: “We are disappointed to confirm that David Morrissey will be unable to attend Screenplay 2013 in person due to his being suddenly and unexpectedly recalled to the USA to complete a film shoot at the last minute. David asked us to pass on his sincere and heartfelt apologies for the disappointment caused.

“However, we are glad to say that David will still joining us via a digital teleconference for a Q&A session as part of the David Morrissey retrospective.”

The rest of the programme is unaffected although a screening of horror classic The Exorcist has been added. It will be introduced by Mark Kermode.

The week-long festival starts on 31st August. For details see earlier story.
