Shield triumph crowns Spurs season

Spurs added the GTS Direct County Shield to the trophy cabinet today– to put a cap on a season which saw them retain the league title.

Victories against Celtic and Thistle last week were enough to see Spurs home in the G&S Flooring Premier League. But all eyes were on the Gilbertson Park this afternoon as they took on Whitedale in a hard fought county shield final.

The West Side team have been cup specialists this season but have suffered recent injuries and it was Spurs who maintained their ruthless end-of season form to run out 3-2 winners.

Victory meant captain Josie Kay got his hands on his second trophy in as many weeks.
