Nicolson and Riley are trial champions

The Shetland Nursery Sheepdog Trial Association held a trial at Skeld on Saturday.

Every winter two trials are held, one in November and the second in March. Competition winners are the highest pointed dog at any of the two trials.

The judge on Saturday was Magnus Hughson from Scalloway.

Novice class: Lewis Calderwood (North Roe) with Ben.

Dogs under 18 months: Raymond Garrick (Sandness) with Jess, 50 out of 60 points.

Dogs 18-30 months: James Nicolson (Scalloway) with Riley, 56 out of 60 points.

Championship: James Nicolson with Riley, 54-60 points.

Intermediate class: Jack Ridland (Westerskeld) with Nell, 77 out of 100 points.

Trophy for best drive: James Nicolson and Riley.

Trophy for best outrun lift and fetch: Chris Robertson with Tib.

Open trial: 1 Jack Ridland with Vic, 82 out of 100; 2 Ogilvy Brown with Jed, 78; 3 Jerry Ramsay with Cap, 71.
