Teen held over alleged firearms incident

A teenager is being held in custody following an alleged firearms incident in the isles.

Police Scotland have confirmed that a 16-year-old man is being held.

At around 3pm officers were given reports of a man acting suspiciously, and who appeared to be in possession of a firearm in the Scord area of Scalloway.

Armed officers based in the isles, with support from armed officers from the mainland, were immediately deployed. They found the man in Lerwick’s Murrayston, where he was arrested at around quarter past five.

Police say no one was injured, and inquiries are continuing.
