Woman dies following crash in Brae

An elderly woman has died following a crash outside the Brae Hotel yesterday.

The 77-year-old woman was the passenger in a car that collided with a coach.

She and the driver were taken to Gilbert Bain Hospital but the woman has died of injuries from the collision.

Two fire engines were sent to the scene after the call was received at about 11.50am.

Cutting equipment was used to allow access by paramedics.

Yesterday police said two people were trapped in the car, though there were not thought to be any serious injuries.

As part of ongoing enquiries the police are closing the B0970, close to the Brae Hotel.

This will be between 1.30pm and 4.30pm today. Diversions will be put in place via the B0976 Brae to Mossbank and the A968 Mossbank to Voe.
