Celtic put paid to Thistle’s hopes in the first of last night’s semi-finals at Gilbertson Park, with four goals in the first 25 minutes virtually ending the match as a contest.

To Thistle’s credit they only conceded one more goal after that, but the damage had already been done.

Jordan Thomason and Finn Watt both bagged doubles for Celtic, with Roy Wood getting the other goal.

The other semi-final at Strom Park was a much closer affair, with Spurs needing extra time to overcome Whitedale’s resistance.

The home side took the lead in the first half when Dave McKenzie broke free on the right and drove in powerfully at the near post.

Spurs skipper Joe Kay equalised with a header in the second half and then Sam Ward put the Lerwick team ahead.

Whitedale levelled things late on, however, a diving header from Piotr Drozdowski making it 2-2.

Whitedale had the best of things in the first period of extra time but failed to find the net. They were made to pay for it when the prolific Paul Molloy used his pace and tenacity to find the net twice against his former club and finish things off at 4-2.
