Roads closed at Voe after smash

Police have closed the main road at Voe following an accident which happened in the early afternoon near the war memorial.

The main A970 road and the B9076 Isles Road are closed to allow emergency services access to the scene.

An eyewitness said three fire engines and two ambulances are at the scene. Police said the roads would be closed for an hour at least.

The force this afternoon confirmed a two-vehicle collision had occurred at 2.10pm. Two people were injured and police, three fire engines and two ambulances rushed to the scene.

The casualties, a man and a woman, were said by police to be “conscious and breathing” and were treated by ambulance staff.
