A Shetland resident who was reported missing last Thursday has been traced safe and well, police said on Monday.

David Brown, a chef at the Lerwick Hotel, was reported missing after last being seen by a friend on Wednesday afternoon.

Mr Brown, 68, was believed to have travelled on the NorthLink ferry to Aberdeen before heading onwards to the Devon and Cornwall area.

Police launched a nationwide search which resulted in Mr Brown being traced by Friday. Lerwick police thanked people who assisted with their enquiry.
