Hjaltland arrival in Lerwick today delayed until 5.30pm

Rough seas led to significant delays in NorthLink’s sailings both to and from Shetland over the past couple of days.

The arrival of the Hrossey at Lerwick on Saturday morning was delayed by a couple of hours. She sailed at the usual time in the evening but arrival in Aberdeen today was again delayed until 11am.

The northbound sailing of the Hjaltland was more seriously affected. She left Aberdeen at 5pm on Saturday but only arrived in Kirkwall at 1am. She remained at the Hatston terminal overnight before departing again at 11am today.

The Hjaltland is now expected to arrive in Lerwick at 5.30pm today and leave for the direct trip to Aberdeen at 9pm. NorthLink said check-in times would be between 7pm and 8pm.

Arrival in Aberdeen tomorrow is now expected to be around 8.30am.

The ferry company added that the Pentland Firth service, served by the Hamnavoe, was continuing to operate as normal today.
