Man fined for exposing himself at Brae hostelries

A man who exposed himself at the Northern Lights Hotel and Mid Brae Inn has been fined £300 for his “disgusting” behaviour.

Lee Waagenes, 22, of Pembroke Dock, Pembrokeshire in Wales, was one of a trio of men who admitted pulling down their clothing and exposing their penises at the Brae watering holes on 20th September.

Procurator fiscal Duncan MacKenzie described the incident as “disgusting, outrageous behaviour by a drunk”, which was then repeated.

“It was no fun for the females who were forced to witness it,” MacKenzie said. The trio were so drunk at the time they were falling about.

Waagenes apologised to Lerwick Sheriff Court on Wednesday and said that he had never acted that way in his life before.

Sheriff Philip Mann said: “This behaviour was quite unacceptable. Drink explains it but does not excuse it.”

He told Waagenes to “refrain from this kind of behaviour” which was unpleasant and disgusting for others to witness.

Waagenes was fined £150 for each offence. The other men will be sentenced on 30th April.
