Fire service called to incident at Gremista

Five fire engines were called out to an incident at the Gremista Industrial Estate this morning.

The local fire service was alerted to the situation at around 11.20am and five appliances attended the scene.

There were 20 firefighters involved in the operation, using two hoses and ten sets of breathing apparatus.

The fire was said to have started in Grieg Seafood’s vacuum pump room.

Police and ambulance services were also in attendance.

Two men were reported to have taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
