Please don’t desecrate it (Oliver Cheyne)

It was interesting to read in last week’s Shetland Times that six teenagers from the South Mainland had completed their silver Duke of Edinburgh awards by hiking and camping in the area of the Lunklet Burn.

This had taken place from 9th to 11th September and these teenagers had enjoyed the experience and the area.

Sadly this is a place where it might not be possible to enjoy this sort of activity in the future if the place is desecrated by the construction of the giant Viking Energy windfarm so desired by its supporters.

It is a place where you can find solace in quiet and peaceful surroundings. Many tourists and locals enjoy visiting this area.

I, along with many others, hope that the Viking Energy windfarm is never constructed.
