About 400 properties were without power on Sunday after lightning hit an electricity cable.

An SSE spokeswoman said the power cut happened at about 9.50pm affecting customers in Scalloway and the surrounding areas, including Gulberwick and Quarff.

Engineers attended the fault and properties were re-connected in stages.

Power was fully restored by about 1.20am.
