Man taken to hospital after fall near town hall

A man has been taken to Gilbert Bain hospital after falling from a cherry picker near Lerwick Town Hall.

Police received the call at about 1.15pm on Monday afternoon.

A police spokesman said the man had suffered serious but non life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital by paramedics.

The road was re-opened by around 2pm.
