Lerwick library reopens with reduced service

The Shetland Library in Lerwick will reopen to the public today (Monday 27th July).

Initially, the library will be open from 1.30pm till 5pm, Monday to Saturday.

The experience will be vastly different too. Customers will be asked to wear a face covering whilst in the library, and must give their contact details in line with the government’s Test and Protect scheme.

And all returned books must be put in the returns point outside, or the boxes within the library, where they will be quarantined for 72 hours.

The council says they hope to restore all services in the library when it is safe to do so.
