Condolences voiced after Covid death

NHS Shetland has expressed its sorrow after an isles resident who had tested positive for Covid-19 died.

The patient was receiving treatment on the mainland.

The death was recorded in today’s Scottish government Covid-19 update.

NHS Shetland Chief Executive Michael Dickson said: “I know I speak on behalf of all at NHS Shetland in offering our sincerest condolences to the affected family.”

    He was my father, Willie Smith, from Scalloway. He contracted covid in ward 109, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. He went down for a scan, and did not expect to be kept there almost three weeks. He tested positive just as he was about to be discharged.

      Just saw this Willie. Please accept my very sincere condolences. You know I really liked your father, indeed your whole family, who were so good to me when we lived in Scalloway. Take care and love to all.
