Shetland Police have issued a warning to residents to be on the lookout for counterfeit bank notes.
In a tweet they advise islanders to check bank notes for security features such as watermarks and serial numbers.
They also advise to pay careful attention to the wording and spelling mistakes on notes circulating the isles.
