We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly self-motivated individual to join our team and provide support to local unpaid carers.

Shetland Carers, a project delivered through VAS, aims to support and empower unpaid carers to manage their caring role and have a life alongside caring. We seek to recruit a full time worker dedicated to young people in a caring role in Shetland. The role would be twofold:

  • working with key partners to raise awareness and identify young people in caring roles;
  • developing a support service to meet the needs of identified young carers.

The successful candidate must have excellent communication, presentation and reporting skills. They will have experience of third sector/multi agency working and the ability to research and develop support opportunities based on the needs of young people.

The post holder must be able to work flexibly within the hours and be prepared to undertake some evening and weekend work.
