Update: possible ferry disruption warns NorthLink

NorthLink Ferries has announced amendments to today’s (Wednesday) services which could stretch into tomorrow as weather conditions worsen.

Today’s passenger service to Aberdeen will sail as scheduled at 5.30pm but will not be stopping at Kirkwall.

Today’s freight service will also set sail on time (6pm) but NorthLink warn it may be held up for an hour when it arrives in Aberdeen on Thursday morning.

The Met Office forecast for today into tomorrow morning is for occasional sleet and snow showers and strong to gale easterly winds with gusts up to 37 mph. In Aberdeen gusts of up to 41 mph are forecast for early Thursday.

Maximum temperature will reach 5 °C in Lerwick and 10°C in Aberdeen later this morning.
