Flag to fly at half-mast following death of councillor who served North Isles ‘admirably’

The Shetland flag will fly at half-mast following the death of former councillor Laura Baisley.

Mrs Baisley was elected to the SIC’s North Isles ward in 2007 and held the role for five years.

Convener Andrea Manson said she served “admirably”.

“I’m sorry to hear of Laura Baisley’s passing and I extend my deepest condolences to her family,” she added.

Ms Manson will pay a short tribute at the next public opportunity, which is likely to be the full council meeting on 21st November.

The SIC also said it would fly the flag at half-mast this Saturday, as a mark of respect on the day of the funeral.

Mrs Baisley also worked at Isles Telecroft, an early computing classroom, in Unst.
