All schools and nurseries will be closed tomorrow (Thursday) due to forecasted high winds.
The SIC said a yellow wind warning had been issued for the isles, with gusts of up to 80mph anticipated for a time.
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) has also announced it will bring in additional teams in case of any damage to the power network.
The schools are due to close on Friday afternoon for the Christmas holidays.
