Archivist to host illustrated archaeology lecture

Shetland Museum is to host an illustrated lecture by archivist Brian Smith on Wednesday 18th February at 7.30pm.

Entitled The Brochs of Shetland, the lecture will investigate recent controversies and new ideas on this subject.

In his lecture, Mr Smith will explore what archaeologists have been saying about brochs since the Second World War, and describing the results of an investigation that he and his colleague Gordon Johnston have been engaged on since 2002.

The lecture is free but booking is essential.

Hay’s Dock Cafe Restaurant will be open on the same evening, offering a £10 two-course pre-lecture dinner from 5pm to 7.15pm, and the museum galleries will also be open late to 7.30pm.

As tables are limited, booking is also recommended for the pre-lecture dinner.
