Da Wheel's in motion for expansion plan

The council's licensing board has approved Da Wheel Bar's application to expand its upstairs premises, more than doubling its capacity.

The first floor will now be able to accommodate 300 people, up from 148, with a dedicated dance floor and DJ area, and another bar will be installed. The toilets will also be moved and enlarged.

There were no objections to the application from the police, fire service or the health board, and there was no response from the community council. Council members unanimously approved the application, which was moved by Amanda Westlake and seconded by Peter Campbell.

Da Wheel Bar owner Debbie Leask said the extra space had "become available" and it seemed "sensible" to move the dance floor to a dedicated area. "Customers have been asking for this for a while", she added.
