Drever to record and launch new EP featuring some of the islands' top musicians

Prolific Scottish folk musician Kris Drever is to record and lauch a new EP including some of the islands' finest musicians and singers.

With his regular musical partner Eamonn Coyne in tow, Drever will work with local players on a five-track EP of tunes and songs at Mareel's recording studio this weekend.

Drever moved to Shetland in late 2013, and the Orcadian's voice and guitar playing form part of the backbone of today's contemporary roots scene.

He is widely admired for his work both as a solo musician and with ground-breaking folk trio LAU - billed as "the UK's best live band" by The Guardian earlier this year.

The official launch of the EP will be at Mareel on 9th September, with a live performance featuring the musicians appearing on the EP, before Drever and Coyne embark on a fortnight-long nationwide promotional tour.
