Fishing boat towed into Lerwick

A Fraserburgh-registered fishing boat was towed into Lerwick on Monday morning after alerting the coastguard that she had no engine power and was taking on water.

The Carisanne II, with six crew on board, reported problems at 8.25pm on Sunday. She was 30 miles east of Unst at the time, pair-trawling with the Rosemount.

Shetland Coastguard scrambled rescue helicopter Rescue 102, which took pumps out to the Carisanne II. The pumps were lowered onto the vessel and she was pumped dry.

The Rosemount then towed the Carisanne II into Lerwick for repairs, arriving in the harbour around 8.30am.
