Overnight ice catches out drivers

Six accidents on the A970 were reported to police last night and today after a night frost caught drivers out.

Chief Inspector Angus MacInnes said that the single-vehicle accidents had occurred at various places on the main road but none had been particularly serious and not all had required police attendance.

He warned drivers to take heed of conditions in January when ice can form in a short time.

“My advice is for people to be aware of the weather. You would not wear flip flops down the high street in a snow storm – take the same approach to driving.”
