School pupils test their European knowledge

Tingwall Primary School pupils have made it through to the grand final of the Scottish European Educational Trust’s Euroquiz.

The competition is for primary six pupils and encourages them to develop their knowledge about Europe and the European Union.

Questions are asked on history, geography, current affairs, culture, language, sport and the European Union.

A total of 31 teams will take place in the final in the debating chamber at Scottish Parliament on Monday.

The event can be watched live at www.scottishparliament.tv and starts at 1pm. Four pupils from Tingwall Primary School will be taking part - Gary Scott, Tom Tait, David Irvine and Kirsty Thomson.

Cheryl Spofforth, head teacher of Tingwall Primary School, said: "All the pupils, parents and staff at Tingwall are so proud of the team's achievement.

"We know they will enjoy the challenge of taking part in the Euroquiz final and hope that all their hard work pays off.

"Other pupils will be watching the broadcast live and we hope that everybody throughout Shetland will join with us in supporting them."
