Scout from The Voice to check out singing talent

Shetland singers will have the chance to show off their talents when a scout from BBC talent show The Voice visits Mareel on Sunday 18th May.

The scout will be attending the monthly singers and songwriters’ night, which has built up a strong following and is organised by local singer-songwriter Sheila Duncan.

The Voice has recently finished its third series, with music stars, Kylie Minogue and Tom Jones among the coaches offering advice to budding pop stars.

A scout contacted Duncan before the last singers and songwriters’ night, and Duncan said they are looking to check out the singing talent in the isles.

Rather than using a small PA on the auditorium floor, performers will be able to take to the stage and use the larger PA system.

She is asking for those interested to get in touch in advance, in order to secure a slot on the night.

Ten names are already on the list, she said.

Anyone interested can contact her through the Shetland singers and songwriters’ Facebook page or at sheila.duncan5@btinternet.com.

“You never know what might happen,” she added.
