Strachan through to Commonwealth Games final





Lerwick swimmer Andrea Strachan has qualified for the final of the 50 metres breaststroke at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Strachan, 21, finished the semi-final finished fourth in the semi-final and qualified with a time of 31.52s, slightly quicker than her swim in the first qualification round.

She will join fellow Scots Corrie Scott (30.79s) and Kathryn Johnstone (31.12s) in the final.

Jamaican Alia Atkinson was first home in Strachan's semi-final and was the quickest of the qualifiers (30.17s)

The final will be held in the Tollcross Swimming Centre shortly after 7.10pm on Friday.
