Hornby wins Shetland snooker Masters and league final
Ian Hornby won both the Masters and snooker league final after a double-header against a strong David Irvine.
Irvine took a 4-1 lead in the best of nine Masters final but Hornby found his form with breaks of 40 and 35.
Victory looked certain for Irvine when he got in amongst the balls eighth frame but lost control of the cue ball after clearing the reds and final colour. His effort resulted in the yellow rattling between the jaws of the pocket. Hornby came to the table 25 points behind with 27 available.
The deciding frame was another blackball finish, with Hornby once again making the decisive pot.
Hornby was in good form in the league final, making a 98 break in the opening frame.
Irvine brought the game back to 1-1 but it was not meant to be for him as Hornby stormed to a 5-1 win.
